With NFC Business Cards, you can store your contact details, website links, social media profiles, and more directly on the card. When someone taps their smartphone against the card, your information is instantly shared—no more manual data entry required.

Artwork Preparation

Please follow our artwork preparation guidelines to ensure that your artwork file is set up correctly for printing. This will help avoid any production issues and ensure that your final product meets your expectations.

1. Add 3 mm of Bleed

During the production of paper products, slight cutting imperfections are to be expected — cutting can be off by a couple of millimeters from the cutting line. To accommodate for these small shifts, add 3 mm of bleed on all edges of your artwork. Ensure all colors, background images, and design elements extend to the edge of the bleed area to avoid unwanted white borders after trimming.

Learn more about how to set up the bleed here.

2. Keep Your Content Within a 3 mm Safety Margin

To prevent important elements like text and logos from being cut off, keep all critical content at least 3 mm inside from the trim line (also known as the “safety margin”). This ensures that nothing essential will be too close to the edge after trimming.

3. Use CMYK Color Mode

For accurate color representation in print, always set your artwork to CMYK color mode. This ensures the colors you see on-screen will translate properly to the final printed product.

4. Use an Image Resolution of at Least 300 DPI

To guarantee sharp and clear images, all raster images (photos or non-vector elements) should be at least 300 DPI (dots per inch). Anything lower may result in blurry or pixelated prints.

5. Use the Right Values for Grey Elements

When creating grey elements, ensure you use the right CMYK values to avoid color inconsistencies in print. For a neutral grey, use equal values of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black (C:0 M:0 Y:0 K:50).

6. Use the Right Values for Black Elements

For solid black areas, use rich black (C:60 M:40 Y:40 K:100) to achieve a deep, vibrant black. For text and fine lines, use pure black (C:0 M:0 Y:0 K:100) to prevent over-inking.

7. Use Maximum 2 Colors for Lines Finer than 2 pt

For thin lines (less than 2 pt in width), use no more than 2 colors to ensure clarity in printing. This reduces the risk of misregistration and blurry lines in the final product.

8. Convert All Fonts to Outlines or Embed Them in Your File

Ensure that your fonts appear correctly by either converting all fonts to outlines or embedding them in your artwork file. This prevents any font-related issues when your file is printed.

9. Save and Upload Your Artwork Files as PDF/X-1a

For the best compatibility and print quality, save your final artwork file as PDF/X-1a. This ensures all fonts, images, and settings are embedded correctly and optimized for printing.

10. Check for Overprint

Before submitting your artwork, double-check for any overprint settings that might cause elements to disappear in print. Turn off overprint for non-essential objects to ensure everything prints as expected.

Following these guidelines will ensure your artwork is print-ready and minimizes the risk of production delays or errors. If you have any questions about the artwork, please check our Knowledge Base section or feel free to contact us.

Design Recommendations

NFC Business Cards combine cutting-edge technology with premium print design, offering a seamless way to share digital information. Follow these tips to ensure your card’s design looks professional and integrates well with the NFC functionality.

1. Keep the Design Clean and Simple

NFC cards offer a sleek way to share your digital information, so it’s important to keep the physical design simple and modern. Focus on key elements such as your logo, business name, and essential contact details, ensuring the card remains easy to read.

2. Utilize Your Brand Colors

For NFC Business Cards, Pantone color printing is available by quote but not offered for instant online orders. Opt for full-color CMYK printing for vibrant, high-quality designs that complement the tech-savvy nature of the card.

3. Highlight NFC Functionality

Consider adding a small icon or graphic to indicate that the card includes NFC functionality. This helps users understand the advanced capabilities of the card. Keep the icon small and discreet to maintain a clean design.

4. Choose Readable Fonts

Clear and professional fonts are crucial for NFC Business Cards, as users will interact with both the physical card and the digital experience. We recommend a minimum font size of 7pt for legibility, ensuring that all essential details are easy to read.

5. Balance Design with Technology

While NFC adds digital functionality, your card’s design should remain balanced with enough white space to ensure a clean look. Avoid overcrowding the card with too many graphic elements, and focus on highlighting your logo and key information.
