What Paper We Use?

Your business card is a direct reflection of your brand, so it’s essential to choose a paper type that not only complements your design but also stands the test of time. Below are the premium paper options we offer for your business cards:

  • 260gsm Gloss Art
Ideal for vibrant and striking prints, 260gsm gloss art paper provides a high-gloss finish similar to traditional photographic prints. This smooth surface enhances the depth and vibrancy of your artwork, making it perfect for designs that require sharp detail and rich color tones.
  • 310gsm Gloss Art
As our most popular choice for professional and full-color printing, 310gsm gloss art paper strikes the perfect balance between durability and quality. With its glossy, bright white finish, this paper resembles high-end picture paper and delivers exceptional color reproduction, making it ideal for impactful business cards that stand out.
  • 350gsm Gloss Art
If you prefer a thicker, more robust card, 350gsm gloss art paper is the perfect option. Its glossy, smooth surface adds a polished, professional touch to your design, offering a “picture-perfect” look and feel that leaves a lasting impression. This sturdy card stock is well-suited for business cards that need to exude quality and durability.

Tip: Paper weight is measured in grams per square meter (gsm). The higher the gsm, the thicker and sturdier the paper. This ensures your business cards not only look great but also feel substantial in the hand.

By choosing our Standard Business Cards, you are guaranteed a professional and polished product that reflects your brand’s identity. Get started today and stand out from the crowd!

Artwork Preparation

Please follow our artwork preparation guidelines to ensure that your artwork file is set up correctly for printing. This will help avoid any production issues and ensure that your final product meets your expectations.

1. Add 3 mm of Bleed

During the production of paper products, slight cutting imperfections are to be expected — cutting can be off by a couple of millimeters from the cutting line. To accommodate for these small shifts, add 3 mm of bleed on all edges of your artwork. Ensure all colors, background images, and design elements extend to the edge of the bleed area to avoid unwanted white borders after trimming.

Learn more about how to set up the bleed here.

2. Keep Your Content Within a 3 mm Safety Margin

To prevent important elements like text and logos from being cut off, keep all critical content at least 3 mm inside from the trim line (also known as the “safety margin”). This ensures that nothing essential will be too close to the edge after trimming.

3. Use CMYK Color Mode

For accurate color representation in print, always set your artwork to CMYK color mode. This ensures the colors you see on-screen will translate properly to the final printed product.

4. Use an Image Resolution of at Least 300 DPI

To guarantee sharp and clear images, all raster images (photos or non-vector elements) should be at least 300 DPI (dots per inch). Anything lower may result in blurry or pixelated prints.

5. Use the Right Values for Grey Elements

When creating grey elements, ensure you use the right CMYK values to avoid color inconsistencies in print. For a neutral grey, use equal values of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black (C:0 M:0 Y:0 K:50).

6. Use the Right Values for Black Elements

For solid black areas, use rich black (C:60 M:40 Y:40 K:100) to achieve a deep, vibrant black. For text and fine lines, use pure black (C:0 M:0 Y:0 K:100) to prevent over-inking.

7. Use Maximum 2 Colors for Lines Finer than 2 pt

For thin lines (less than 2 pt in width), use no more than 2 colors to ensure clarity in printing. This reduces the risk of misregistration and blurry lines in the final product.

8. Convert All Fonts to Outlines or Embed Them in Your File

Ensure that your fonts appear correctly by either converting all fonts to outlines or embedding them in your artwork file. This prevents any font-related issues when your file is printed.

9. Save and Upload Your Artwork Files as PDF/X-1a

For the best compatibility and print quality, save your final artwork file as PDF/X-1a. This ensures all fonts, images, and settings are embedded correctly and optimized for printing.

10. Check for Overprint

Before submitting your artwork, double-check for any overprint settings that might cause elements to disappear in print. Turn off overprint for non-essential objects to ensure everything prints as expected.

Following these guidelines will ensure your artwork is print-ready and minimizes the risk of production delays or errors. If you have any questions about the artwork, please check our Knowledge Base section or feel free to contact us.

Design Recommendations

Die Cut Business Cards allow you to create custom shapes that stand out from traditional designs, giving your card a unique look and feel. Follow these tips to make the most of this distinctive option.

1. Simple Yet Impactful Design

Die-cutting offers endless possibilities for creative shapes, but it’s essential to keep your design simple and clear. Focus on your logo, business name, and key contact details to ensure your card remains professional and easy to read.

2. Utilize Your Brand Colors

For Die Cut Business Cards, Pantone color printing is available by quote but not offered for instant online orders. Opt for full-color CMYK printing for vibrant, high-quality designs that complement the custom shape of your card.

3. Choose the Right Shape

When designing your card, think about a shape that represents your brand. Whether it’s a rounded corner, a geometric shape, or a completely custom outline, ensure the shape enhances the design rather than detracting from it.

4. Readable Fonts

Choose fonts that are easy to read and clear, even with a custom card shape. We recommend using a minimum font size of 7pt to maintain legibility while ensuring the text complements the die-cut design.

5. Consider White Space

Leave enough white space around your key design elements to prevent overcrowding. A well-spaced layout ensures that your custom-shaped business card remains professional and easy to read while highlighting the die-cut effect.
